Wiki Information

  • Only I.S.52 6th grade students are allowed to contribute to this site.
  • Only constructive, well thought out and informed input is welcome. Any contributions that are inappropriate or incorrect will be either removed or corrected.
  • Main unit pages may not be edited by students, only topic pages within main units are for student editing.
  • Links to news articles, websites, or other wikis (such as Wikipedia ) can be included if it is useful for the topic.
  • Graphs may be uploaded as picture files if they are deemed helpful for understanding a topic.

Wikipage Acceptable Use

Purpose of the Wiki

The students of the Sixth Grade classes at I.S.52 will be participating in class Wikis for the purposes of:
  • Responding to and commenting on curriculum topics as we study them
  • Creating written/media projects and commenting on each other’s work
  • Creating Collaborative Projects with two or more students
  • Practicing taking varied points of view on a topic
  • Asking questions about subjects and projects


In the interest of students’ safety, the following restrictions have been configured on the Wiki:
  • Only a teacher can enter registrations and all Wiki content is subject to teacher approval and/or deletion.
  • Only students, parents, and staff members with a related interest to this class can see the wiki and only students and teachers are allowed to add to or edit the Wiki.
  • The teacher will be notified of all edits to the Wiki.
  • No individual or identifiable profiles are available on the Wiki.

Terms and Conditions

  • All Wiki members in this Grade 6 Wiki project must agree to the terms and conditions of this agreement.
  • The teacher will make every reasonable effort to monitor conduct on the Wiki in order to maintain a positive learning community.
  • No Wiki member may post, comment, or change settings on the site in violation of these terms and conditions, including entries made from computers outside of school.
  • All student assignments must be the student’s work. Any Copyrighted material must be cited in all posts and assignments.
  • All Wiki members must protect their log-in and password information. If Wiki members suspect that a password has been compromised, notify the teacher immediately.
  • No Wiki member may include any information or images on the site that could compromise the safety of any Wiki members.
  • All Wiki members will be respectful in their postings and edits. No trash-talk, inappropriate language, personal insults, profanity, spam, discriminatory remarks, or threatening comments will be tolerated.
  • No Wiki member may edit or delete the work of another member without including a written explanation for the changes (with name) in the Discussion area for that page. This includes all collaboration projects.
  • Any Wiki member who is aware of violations of this agreement by others must report these violations to the teacher immediately.

Consequences of violating the Wikipage Acceptable Use

Any violation of the above terms and conditions shall make the violator subject to immediate termination from the wiki, and to discipline through the school code of conduct, where applicable. At the teacher’s discretion, a warning may be given in the case of minor infractions.
