UNIT 1- TASK TRACING PROCESS OF CHANGE OR DEVELOPMENT
You are an explorer or scientist or an expert in your chosen field. You are asked to trace something in the process of change or development. You can use something natural or not natural. Possible range of subjects include the growth of a child, life cycle of an insect, bird migration, growth of a penguin or other Arctic animal, creation of a painting, progress of a sunset, or the coming and going of a thunderstorm, an earthquake, a tsunami, change in a habitat/city, development of fashion or type of music or sport over the ages, development of an invention, (ex. present computer) process of learning a skill, the process of how a firefighter responds to a fire, the breaking of a record, the launch of a shuttle/satellite, the life of an artist, scientist etc. or any other area of your choice.
Steps to be followed:
1. You will be looking at different exemplars or model essays to
learn how to write your own.
2. You will select a topic depending on your interest.
3. You will research the topic to identify five or more
developmental steps indicating change.
4. You will use the notes and information to write your drafts.
5. Your final draft will be written after peer and teacher feedback.
6. The attached rubric will guide you in the areas of ideas,
development, organization, language use and mechanics.
7. You will present your work to the class using appropriate eye
contact, adequate volume and clear pronunciation.
Objectives:
1. To write informative texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of content.
2. To produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are suitable to task, purpose, and audience.
3. To present ideas to the class using descriptions, facts, and details while using appropriate eye contact, adequate volume, and clear pronunciation.
